Follow this workflow to ensure your kitchen team always has the most up-to-date dockets printed.
Puree recommends a simple 3-step workflow that ensures your kitchen team always has current information whilst minimising paper waste. This workflow maintains a rolling 7-day window of printed dockets.
The kitchen team should have the next 7 days of dockets printed at all times, and no more. This provides adequate preparation time whilst keeping the docket stack manageable.
A 7-day window gives your team enough lead time to order ingredients, plan preparation schedules, and coordinate with suppliers.
Each morning, someone prints the dockets for the same day next week. For example, if it's Wednesday, print dockets for the following Wednesday only.
This maintains the 7-day rolling window. As each day passes, you add the next day's dockets to the end of the queue. This simple daily task takes just a few minutes.
Navigate to Dockets from the main menu. Click All Orders to view all upcoming orders. Find the orders for the same day next week and download the PDF for each order.
In the afternoon, go to the Recent Updates tab and print any dockets that have been updated during the day for orders within the next 7 days, or any new orders received.
The Recent Updates view shows a red PDF button when an order has been modified since the docket was last printed. Once you download the PDF, the button returns to normal.
The Recent Updates filter shows orders that have been modified in the past 72 hours. This includes changes to items, quantities, delivery times, special instructions, or any other order details.
New orders that have been accepted also appear in this view, ensuring you don't miss any new bookings.
Always Current: Your kitchen team always has the latest information. By checking for updates in the afternoon, you catch any changes made during the day before the kitchen begins preparation.
Minimal Waste: Only print what you need. The 7-day window prevents printing too far in advance, reducing wasted paper when orders change.
Easy to Maintain: The workflow is simple and takes just a few minutes each day. Morning printing is quick, and afternoon checks only print what's changed.
Adequate Lead Time: The 7-day window provides enough time for ordering ingredients, planning preparation, and coordinating with suppliers.
Assign Responsibility: Designate specific team members for morning and afternoon printing tasks. This ensures the workflow is consistently followed.
Set Reminders: Use calendar reminders or task management tools to prompt the morning and afternoon printing sessions.
Keep Dockets Organised: Store printed dockets in date order. Remove dockets for completed events to keep the stack current.
Check Before Preparation: Before starting preparation for an event, quickly check if there's a red button for that order. If so, print the updated docket.
