Back to Details: Return to the First Step of a Quote Without Losing Your Work

You are halfway through building a quote, forty items deep, and you realise the delivery time is wrong. Until now that was a bad moment. The 1 Details breadcrumb at the top of the items page was not a link, and if you went back any other way you lost the lot. So you finished the quote, saved it, and then went back to fix the date. You can now just click Back.

What changed

The 1 Details breadcrumb is a working link again, and there is a Back button in the footer of the items page next to Save. Either one takes you to the details step with everything you have built so far still in hand.

Change whatever you came back for, the event date, the venue, the guest numbers, a delivery time, then carry on to the items step. Your basket is exactly as you left it.

Everything comes with you

Not just the food. Items, package selections, staff lines, venue reservations, the options and portion sizes you picked on individual items, and any custom lines you typed in yourself. All of it survives the trip in both directions.

Deliveries are worth a specific mention. If you add a second delivery on the details step and assign items to it, those items now stay with the right delivery. Previously anything you had not saved yet could end up pinned to the wrong one.

A half-finished line will not stop you

Going back never blocks. If you are mid-way through adding an item and have not filled in a quantity yet, Back still works and that line is waiting for you when you come back. It is only when you Save that Puree checks the quote over properly.

Nothing is written to the quote until you save

Stepping back does not commit anything. On a quote you have already saved and sent, going back to the details step and changing your mind twice does not touch the saved version. Your work is held aside for the length of the visit, and only Save writes it to the quote. If you decide against the whole thing, leave without saving and the quote is as it was.

And a warning before you lose anything

There is now a prompt if you try to close the tab or use your browser's own back button with unsaved items on the page. It does not appear when you click Save or Back, because neither of those loses anything. It is there for the accidental cmd-W at the end of a long day.

Nothing to set up
