Chef Users: A Focused, Kitchen-Only Login for Your Prep Team

By Andrew Hemphill · 18 July 2026

Not everyone on your team needs to see quotes, pricing and customer details. Your chefs need one thing: what's being prepped today, and in what order. The new Chef user type gives kitchen staff their own Puree login that opens straight to the Kitchen dashboard — and keeps everything else out of the way.

A Login Built Around the Kitchen

When a Chef user signs in, they land directly on the Kitchen dashboard rather than the usual quotes-and-orders home page. There's no New Quote button, no Quotes list, and no view-mode toggle — just today's orders laid out in time order, so the team can see what's due and when at a glance.

Pick a date to scrub forward or back through the week, and filter by section or department to focus on just the hot kitchen, the pastry section, or wherever a chef is working. As items are prepared, chefs tick them off directly on the dashboard, so everyone can see progress in real time.

Everything the Kitchen Needs, Nothing It Doesn't

Chef users still reach all the tools that help them get food out the door. They can print dockets, work from the kitchen production reports, and view the calendar and event briefs to check the finer details of a booking. What they can't see is the commercial side of your business — no quotes, no pricing, no financial information, and no access to settings or user management. The kitchen gets exactly what it needs to prep the day, and your sales and numbers stay private.

A Standalone Role

The Chef role stands on its own — it can't be combined with Admin or Member. That's intentional: it keeps the kitchen-only experience clean and predictable, so a chef always sees the same focused view every time they log in. If someone needs both kitchen access and full account access, give them the Admin or Member role instead; they'll still be able to reach the Kitchen dashboard from the normal navigation.

Free, Unlimited Logins

Like every other user in Puree, Chef users are free and unlimited. Give each chef their own login rather than sharing one — activity stays attributed to the right person, and you can add or remove access the moment someone joins or leaves the team.

Getting Started

Adding a chef works just like inviting any other team member. Go to Settings → Account Details → Manage Users, click Invite User, enter their email address, and choose the Chef role. They'll receive an email to set up their password, and their first login will open straight onto the Kitchen dashboard.
